An eco-friendly design and manufacturing company specializing in handmade backpacks, totes, bags and accessories made from recycled sails will be opening a flagship facility in the good ole’ USA. Founded in 2012 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, MAFIA Bags has become so popular that they’ve decided to expand into the United States, where they will locally produce their products in San Francisco. You know we love products made in the US.
MAFIA Bags is the brainchild of brother-sister duo Marcos and Paz Mafia, who wanted to share their passion for nature, appreciation for living a simple life, and commitment to making a social impact with others. The company is a natural progression for 25 year old Marcos who is already an accomplished and award-winning professional kitesurfer. MAFIA is his way of returning the favor to nature.
As part of the U.S. launch, MAFIA has introduced a month-long Kickstarter campaign, providing a first opportunity for consumers to purchase MAFIA bags and accessories, while helping to bring the creative project to life. The Kickstarter campaign will only run for a few more days until July 25 – bags start at $60. Also, if you have a sail laying around that you don’t need, contact them to donate your sail and they will repurpose it into bags and send you one in return for your contribution made from your very own sail.
